Rosa Named to NCAA Women's Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team

NORTHAMPTON – Smith College graduate student Sofia Rosa (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) was named to the All-Tournament Team of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament, announced by the NCAA.

Rosa, a NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team honoree, scored a game-high 19 points and added 10 rebounds and two steals in the national championship game loss to No. 1 NYU last Saturday. She finished the year averaging 13.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 56.5% from the field with 10 double-doubles. Rosa will transition to a graduate assistant coach under coach Hersey this summer.

Under the direction of the D3hoops.com National Coach of the Year Lynn Hersey, Smith tied the program record for wins (30) and played in its first-ever national championship game. During its historic run, Smith had to defeat No. 17 Wisconsin-Oshkosh, No. 8 Bowdoin College, and No. 6 Wartburg College to get to the title game.
