Huskers come up short in overtime against Iowa in Big Ten Championship

Nebraska faced off against Caitlin Clark and No. 3 Iowa for the Big Ten Championship on Sunday morning. The Huskers battled to the end, forcing overtime in front of 18,534 fans and a CBS national television audience. However, Nebraska fell short, suffering a 94-89 defeat.

The Huskers controlled the first half and went into the locker room up 46-35. But Clark’s 34-point outing kept Iowa in the fight. Hannah Stuelke accompanied Clark on the day, scoring 25 points.

Alexis Markowski led Nebraska in scoring, tallying up 23 points in the game. Markowski also hauled in 13 rebounds, tying the Nebraska school record with her 40th career double-double.

Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Year Natalie Potts also reached 20-plus points in the loss, delivering 21 points. Jaz Shelley also earned a double-double, her 13th of her career, with 16 points and a career-high 13 assists.

Nebraska now falls to 22-11 on the season and will await its future at the NCAA Tournament. The Selection Show is set for Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN.
