NC State Back in Win Column with Road Decision at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – No. 22 NC State women’s basketball (17-7, 7-6 ACC) put together a strong defensive performance in its 51-42 road victory over Wake Forest (14-11, 5-9 ACC) on Thursday night.

NC State limited the Demon Deacons to 10 or fewer points in three of four quarters and limited them to 25 percent or below from the field in each of those periods as well. The Wolfpack used a 15-10 scoring advantage out of the halftime break to build up a lead that it did not relinquish for the entirety of the second half.

Making her sixth start of the season, sophomore Saniya Rivers led all players on the floor with 12 points, scoring 10 of those in the second half. Another well-rounded scoring line by the Pack was also aided by nine points each from Camille Hobby and Jada Boyd.

Both teams got off to a slow start offensively with the score standing at 9-9 after 10 minutes and 23-22 in the Pack’s favor at the half. NC State used eight unanswered points over a two and a half minute span in the second quarter to go up by as many as five points in the opening half.

NC State started the second half on a 9-2 run, going up eight points (32-24) and forcing Wake Forest into a timeout less than four minutes into the third period. The Pack opened up a lead of 11 points on two occasions in the third quarter.
