Social media reacts to Jaz Shelley’s selection in the WNBA draft

Reactions are pouring in after a Husker graduate was selected in the WNBA draft on Monday night. Guard Jaz Shelley was selected by the Phoenix Mercury with the 29th overall pick in the third round.

Shelley became the first Husker to jump directly from the Nebraska roster to the WNBA since Jordan Hooper was taken in the second round of the 2014 WNBA draft. The Moe, Australia native averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists during the 2023-24 season.

Shelley finished her Nebraska career with 13 double-doubles and a pair of triple-doubles. She now heads to a Phoenix Mercury team that is coming off a 9-31 record in 2023 with a sixth-place finish in the Western Conference.
