I think it is safe to say that a lot of people were caught off guard on Thursday night when reports circulated that Alabama Crimson Tide guard Rylan Griffen was entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Griffen has been a key piece of the Alabama basketball program over the last two years. Now, it appears that he will be suiting up elsewhere next season.
The native of Richardson, Texas is well-known for his three-point scoring prowess as well as his tenacious defense along the perimeter. During the 2023-2024 season, Griffen averaged 11.2 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 1.9 assists per game. In addition, he shot 45.4% from the floor and 39.2% from beyond-the-arc.
