Oregon guard Kario Oquendo has entered the transfer portal

Kario Oquendo, a senior guard for the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team, has entered the transfer portal, according to a report from Matt Zenitz. Oquendo has one year of eligibility remaining.

After starting at Florida Southwestern State College, Oquendo transferred to Georgia where he spent two seasons. After the end of the 2022-23 season, Oquendo entered the portal and chose the Ducks.

In his one season with Oregon, Oquendo was a valuable guard off of the bench, especially after Keeshawn Barthelelmy’s season-ending injury. In 36 games as a Duck, Oquendo averaged 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and an assist, per game.

Since Oregon’s loss to Creighton in the NCAA tournament’s round of 32, the Ducks have lost several key guards. Jermaine Couisnard has no remaining eligibility, Vyctorious Miller β€” a top 100 prospect, committed to the Ducks β€” was released from his letter of intent, Brennan Rigsby entered the transfer portal, and now, Oquendo has entered the portal.

Jackson Shelstad and Keeshawn Barthelemy have announced their intentions to return in the fall of 2024, but the Ducks will likely need to add some quality guards in the transfer portal to bolster their depth.
