Penn State at Iowa basketball odds and betting trends to know

Penn State men’s basketball generated some late-season momentum to move up in the Big Ten standings with a couple of big wins last week at home, but now the Nittany Lions will have to find a way to carry over that momentum on the road. The road has not been kind to Penn State this season, and they will travel to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes in a pivotal game in the Big Ten standings as a sizable underdog.

According to the gameday odds from BetMGM on Tuesday morning, Penn State is an 8.5-point underdog. While Penn State is looking to build off a two-game winning streak, Iowa will be looking for a rebound after losing on the road at Illinois on Saturday. Penn State is currently in the no. 8 spot in the Big Ten tournament seeding, one spot ahead of Iowa. That means Tuesday night’s game carries some significance for the Big Ten tournament seeding process, although the two teams swapping spots would still lead to a third matchup with a second-round conference tournament showdown.

Penn State won the first regular season meeting between the two schools with an 89-79 victory on Feb. 8. Ace Baldwin Jr. scored 22 points in the winning effort.

Penn State is 14-14 against the spread this season after scoring a straight-up upset at home against Illinois and winning against Indiana last week. Penn State is 11-6 ATS in Big Ten play and 6-7 in road games this season.

Iowa is 11-17 ATS this year and just 6-11 in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes have really struggled ATS lately with a 3-7 record in their last 10 games, and they are 6-9 ATS at home this season as well.

Penn State is 17-10-1 in going over the game’s point total this season. Iowa is 18-10 going over the point total.
