Bears Complete Season Sweep Of Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. The California women’s basketball team got a huge effort from its bench to come away with a 66-59 road win at Washington State Friday night in Pullman, Washington at Beasley Coliseum. The win gave the Bears (14-10, 4-8 Pac-12) their first season sweep against the Cougars (15-9, 4-7) since the 2018-19 season and their first Pac-12 road win since they beat Arizona State on Feb. 10, 2023.The 14 wins this season marks the most under Cal head coach Charmin Smith

“I thought it was a really great team effort,” Smith said. “I’m really proud of how we played. It’s great to get our first Pac-12 road game. I feel really good about the team.”

 

Michelle Onyiah posted her first double-double of the season with 15 points (on 6-of-8 shooting) and 10 rebounds, but it was Ila Lane and McKayla Williams who provided significant contributions off the bench with their best offensive games of the conference season. Williams scored 14 points, which included 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, and Lane added 12 points on an efficient 5-of-7 from the field. Both point totals were conference-season highs and Williams’ four triples matched her career-high.
