Runnin' Utes Return Home to Host UCLA Thursday Night


SALT LAKE CITY – The #RV/– Utah men’s basketball team returns home for a quick game as it looks to get back on the win column and protect its home court against the UCLA Bruins this Thursday, Jan. 11, inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Veteran NBA announcer Dave Pasch will guide fans through the action alongside Corey Williams as the Utes look to put an end to their seven-game skid against the Bruins beginning at 7 p.m. (MT) on ESPN2.

Utah’s Branden Carlson is 1-of-21 active Division I players with a minimum of 1,500 career points and 600 career rebounds thru games on Jan. 7. He is the only active player from the Pac-12 on the list and just 1-of-7 Runnin’ Utes to achieve that feat since 1996-97 according to Stats Perform.

LAST TIME OUT
The Utes kept things tight against then No. 10/10 Arizona on the road in the opening frame, trailing just 42-39 at the break. However, a shooting slump in the second half saw the Wildcats take advantage and outscored Utah 50-34 in the second frame – including 13-0 edge in fast break points and 30-16 edge in points in the point. All five starts for Arizona reached double-figures – including a pair with 20-plus points. Meanwhile, Gabe Madsen led the Runnin’ Utes with 18 points on 4-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. Cole Bajema added 11 points of his own with Ben Carlson chipping with 10 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
 
UP NEXT
Utah will get 36 hours to rest up and prepare for a hot-shooting Stanford team on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 3 p.m. (MT) inside Maples Pavilion on the Farm. Ted Robinson and former Cardinal Casey Jacobsen will the call for fans on Pac-12 Networks as the Runnin’ Utes look to add on to their two-game winning-streak in Palo Alto and snap their two-game losing skid against the Cardinal.
