Blue Blood rival leads in recruitment for twins?

The recruitments are starting to heat up for two prized players in the 2025 recruiting class. Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the sons of Carlos Boozer, are two of the best recruits in the class and have a bunch of programs after them.

That includes North Carolina which has offers out to both recruits and has traveled to visit them. But are the Tar Heels among the favorites in the race to land the recruits?

One analyst doesn’t believe so.

Rob Cassidy of Rivals handicapped the race for the Boozer twins, naming which teams have the best shot. He listed the top four contenders and North Carolina wasn’t on the list. Instead, it was Duke taking the top spot as the favorites:

People in the Boozer camp will go to great lengths to convince everyone the talented twins are not locks to land at their famous father’s alma mater, and they may well be correct. That said, the Blue Devils need to be seen as the leader until there’s real reason to believe that they are running behind.

That’s not to say the Boozers’ recruitments are over. It merely serves as a reminder about how these types of recruitments can play out if the prospect in question wants to experience a “normal process” where multiple schools feel like they have a legitimate chance.

There are obviously differences between the Richardson situation and that of the Boozers, the most notable of which is the fact that the man that coached Carlos Boozer at Duke is no longer at the school. For that reason, things feel a bit more open than they did with Richardson. But anyone portraying Duke as anything less than the frontrunner at this juncture is a poor handicapper.

Right behind Duke are No. 2 Miami, No. 3 Florida State, and No. 4 Florida in Cassidy’s rankings.

Now, UNC is not out of the race and Carlos did say that his sons were set to visit in the Spring. It’s a recruitment to watch moving forward and let’s hope UNC can pick up momentum in the race.
