Paopao Earns Pac-12 Player of the Week

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon junior Te-Hina Paopao, recording three straight 20-point performances and a season-high 23 points against Arizona State, was named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

In leading the Ducks to wins over No. 14 Arizona and Arizona State last week, Paopao averaged 22.0 points while shooting 63.3 percent from the field (14-for-22) and 66.7 percent from three (12-of-18). Additionally, she averaged 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Paopao dropped a season-high 23 points in a 77-48 win over the Sun Devils on Senior Day Saturday, including a career-best seven 3-pointers. The Oceanside, Calif., product scored 20 in the first half while going 6-of-7 from long range.

She went 5-for-8 from behind the arc in UO’s 73-59 upset of the Wildcats to lead all players with 21 points. Paopao also hauled in five rebounds and dished out three assists in helping the Ducks end their season-long seven-game skid.

Paopao collects her first career Pac-12 Player of the Week award and becomes the fourth different Duck to earn a conference weekly honor this season. UO has now claimed a conference-leading eight Pac-12 weekly awards this season, tied for second-most in a single season in program history.

Earlier this season, Chance Gray (freshman), Endyia Rogers (player) and Grace VanSlooten (1 player, 3 freshman) have taken home Pac-12 weekly awards. The four different players are also second-most in a season by Oregon.

Oregon next heads to the Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas as the No. 9 seed, where it will face eighth-seeded Washington in the first round Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. PT at Michelob ULTRA Arena (Pac-12 Network).
