Zamolyi & Ratcliff Selected to LVSCBO Teams of the Year; Zamolyi Honored as Pete Nevins Tri-Women’s Player of the Year


CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Graduate student forward Tessa Zamolyi and freshman forward Marquis Ratcliff from the Moravian University basketball teams have been selected to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year by the LVSCB Organization at its final luncheon of the 2022-23 season at DeSales University.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the six small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Moravian University and Muhlenberg College.

Zamolyi has helped lead the Greyhounds to a 14-10 overall record and a 7-6 Landmark Conference record with Moravian having clinched the fourth seed in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament. This winter, Zamolyi is averaging 15.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per game to go along with 44 assists, 34 steals, 19 blocked shots and 13 three-pointers. Zamolyi, who is in her first season with the Greyhounds after three years as an undergraduate at Misericordia University, has recorded 16 double-doubles this season, tied for the third most in a single season in program history.

“Congratulations to Tessa who is most deserving of this honor as Tri-Lehigh Valley Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Year,” stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. “It has been a pleasure to coach Tessa this year as she has been a tremendous addition to our team. Tessa is hard working, dedicated and skilled at both ends of the court. She is driven to succeed and helped to drive our team into the playoffs this season.”

Joining Zamolyi on the Team of the Year were Ashley Wilson of Cedar Crest, Megan Bealer of DeSales, Ryan Weise of East Stroudsburg, Naia Pulliam of Kutztown and Margaux Eripret of Muhlenberg. Zamolyi, Bealer and Weise finished in a three-way tie for the Peter Nevins Women’s Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season by the LVSCB Organization, which is voted on by the head coaches, media and athletic communications staffs at the luncheon.

Zamolyi is the fifth Greyhound to earn Peter Nevins Player of the Year honors since the organization began in 1994-95 with the first Player of the Year honors chosen in 1997-98. She joins Kelly Applegate in 2006, Kate Harrison, who was a co-winner in 2010, Alexis Wright in 2013 and Camille McPherson in 2017.
