Grizzlies willing to trade the Nets a lot for Kevin Durant

Now that the NBA trade season has passed, there has been a bevy of new information coming out about what deals were on the table for certain players, what one team could’ve gotten from another team for a certain player, etc. According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Memphis Grizzlies were willing to trade every draft asset they had to get Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets.

Lowe says that Brooklyn knew since this past summer, July to be exact, that the Grizzlies were prepared to offer every draft pick and pick swap that they had if it meant that they were getting Durant. However, the Phoenix Suns were also interested in Durant and it looks like Brooklyn favored their trade package over what Memphis could offer.

The Suns were able to get Durant and TJ Warren in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected first-round picks, and a 2028 pick swap. Per Lowe, the Grizzlies did not want Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, or Jaren Jackson Jr. included in any deals and that could be why they lost out on the Kevin Durant sweepstakes.
