Jaylen Brown doesn’t need surgery for facial fracture

The Boston Celtics received a little good news on Friday afternoon: Star wing Jaylen Brown will not need surgery on the facial fracture the Georgia native sustained in Wednesday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Per NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg, Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens shared with the media that Brown will avoid going under the knife. He will be fitted with a mask to return to the court at an unspecified date.

“It doesn’t look like it’s going to be too long (before Brown returns to the court), so that’s a good thing,” said Stevens.

Early reports speculated the former Cal-Berkeley standout might be out through the All-Star break, but the lack of an injury replacement being named for Brown suggests he plans to play in the annual exhibition contest.

In turn, that hints the Celtics star could be back on the hardwood for Boston before that, but no further details about a potential return have been released.
