Five in Double Figures as Michigan State Grinds Out Win against Iowa, 63-61


EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State guards Tyson Walker and Jaden Akins hit jumpers in the final 90 seconds and the Spartans held off two final shots from Iowa to grind out a 63-61 win at the Breslin Center Thursday night.

Sophomore guard Jaden Akins scored 12 points and had six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks to lead five players in double figures for the Spartans.

Graduate forward Joey Hauser finished with 11 points and six rebounds, while senior forward Malik Hall came up with 11 points, three rebounds and four assists in his first game in two weeks.

Junior forward Mady Sissoko had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and senior guard Tyson Walker added 10 points and five assists.

Records

Michigan State improves to 14-7 overall and 6-4 in the Big Ten Conference, while Iowa falls to 12-8 and 4-5 in league play.
