Jalen Washington likely to return vs. NC State

The UNC basketball program should get a key piece to their rotation back for Saturdayโ€™s home game against NC State.

After missing Tuesdayโ€™s game against Boston College, freshman center Jalen Washington is expected to play on Saturday. Head coach Hubert Davis met the media on Friday to talk about the upcoming game and he revealed that Washington practiced on Thursday and will be available to play.

Thatโ€™s huge for the Tar Heelsโ€™ rotation as Washington has emerged as an option to come in and play the post to give both Armando Bacot and Pete Nance a break at time during games.

In limited time this season, Washington is averaging 4.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. He had to play extended time in UNCโ€™s loss to Virginia when Bacot left the game early. In that game, Washington proved he could be a factor, scoring 13 points and grabbing 6 rebounds in the loss.

UNC could be getting healthy at the right time. Bacot missed just the Virginia game before returning last week. Nance also returned this week for the win over Boston College.
