Men’s Basketball Returns Home for Sunday Showdown with UMass Lowell


ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men’s basketball team returns the the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College on Sunday afternoon for a matchup with America East Foe UMass Lowell. Tip is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team in Albany.

Leading the Pack

  • Gerald Drumgoole Jr. continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per outing. The big man is shooting 37.9% from the field and a team-best 37.1% from three. Drumgoole Jr. has scored 20+ in six outings this year, including tying his season-high of 26 points in Thursday night’s game against UMBC.
  • Rookie Jonathan Beagle sits second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.9 points. He leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.5 per game. He came just one rebound short of a double-double on Thursday night, dropping 13 points and nabbing nine boards.
  • Aaron Reddish found his groove in the Great Danes’ last outing, going 4-6 from three for 14 total points. The performance snapped a four-game skid in which the sophomore did not reach double figures.
  • Da’Kquan Davis has now scored 10+ points in four-straight games off the bench for UAlbany. He is shooting 35.7% from the field and 34.3% from beyond the arc.
  • After a slow start to the season, Malik Edmead carved out a pivotal spot on the team in recent games. He had scored at least nine points in eight-straight games before being sidelined against UNH with a hand (finger) injury. He is currently listed as week-to-week.
  • As a team, the Great Danes are shooting 40.2% from the field, 32.2% from three, and 67.7% from the charity stripe.
  • UAlbany is averaging 65.6 points per game while opponents are averaging 73.8. UAlbany is averaging 33.8 rebounds while opponents average 34.9. 

 
Last Time Out
The UAlbany men’s basketball team had one of its best shooting games of the season, but ultimately fell to America East foe UMBC by a score of 92-83. Five different Great Danes finished in double figures, led by Gerald Drumgoole Jr. with 26 points. UMBC’s offense proved to be too much however, as the Retrievers would go on to shoot over 50% from the field en route to the win.
