Rutgers men’s basketball has now beaten two ranked teams this season, with an impressive and gutsy 65-64 win over No. 1 Purdue on Monday night. This marks the second-straight season that Rutgers has beaten Purdue.
And on both occasions, Purdue came into the game as the top-ranked team in the nation.
A Cam Spencer 3-point shot with 13.7 seconds left proved to be the game-winner. With 16 points, guard Paul Mulcahy led all Rutgers scorers. He also had a team-high eight rebounds.
Rutgers is now 10-4 (2-1 Big Ten). The Scarlet Knights have won four straight games. Both of their Big Ten wins this season have been against ranked opponents, ironically against programs from Indiana.
On Dec. 3, Rutgers beat Indiana 63-48 at Jersey Mike’s Arena.
The Scarlet Knights will look to stretch their winning streak to five games when they host a very strong Maryland team on Thursday night at Jersey Mike’s Arena.
