COLUMBIA, Ky. – This week, the Lindsey Wilson women’s basketball is taking its talents to South Beach. After two weeks away from the hardwood for the holiday break, the Blue Raiders venture south for the St. Thomas University Holiday Classic.

While in Florida, the locals will face a pair of Sun Conference products, including Florida Memorial University and hosts, St. Thomas. Entering this weekend, Lindsey Wilson is 10-2 all-time when matched-up against opponents from the Sun, and on the year, the Blue Raiders are 4-0 versus nonconference opponents.

The women’s basketball team is, however, in the midst of a four-game losing skid that dates back to an overtime decision against Freed-Hardeman University on December 3. During this active stretch, Lucy Patterson and Amelia Hodges are each averaging 11.3 points per game, while Dayja Evans is contributing 10.7. Patterson is also corralling a team-best 8.5 rebounds a contest.

As a team, the Blue Raiders are finding themselves at the free throw line more often, having attempted 20 or more in each of the last three games.

Lindsey Wilson will first challenge the homestanding Bobcats on Thursday afternoon at 12 p.m. CST.

St. Thomas (14-1, 5-0 Sun) recently saw its unbeaten start to the season come to an end after 14 games at the hands of seventh-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University. Behind the offensive trio of Kasey Gagan (12.6 ppg), Mya Moye (12.1) and Brooke Bogatz (11.9), the ‘Cats actively lead the conference with a 79.6 scoring average and 21.1 scoring margin.

Then, on Friday at 12 p.m. CST, the Blue Raiders take on the Lions (9-3, 4-1 Sun), who suffered their lone in-conference loss to St. Thomas, 78-61, earlier in the year.

Junior Tianna Ayulo has only played the last five games for Florida Memorial but is sporting 18.0 points and 10.6 rebounds an outing in that span.

All of this week’s action will take place at the Fernandez Family Center in Miami Gardens on the campus of St. Thomas University.
