Players’ speak after Aggies fall to Wofford 67-62

Texas A&M shockingly fell to Wofford 67-62 on Tuesday afternoon, losing their second consecutive game after losing a close battle to the Memphis Tigers on Saturday night. From the start, the team looked ill-prepared, while lacking any continuity from their previous effort shown against the Tigers, as Wofford took advantage of the Aggie’s deficiencies on the defensive end.

Leading Texas A&M once again in scoring, Wade Taylor IV scored 20 points while hitting 5 3-pointers, and was by far the only consistent threat wearing maroon and white for the entire afternoon. For Wofford, freshman guard Jackson Paveletzke scored a game-high 22 points, hitting a clutch 3-pointer with two minutes left in the second half to take a 61-57 lead, as Texas A&M could only muster five more points off of two free throws, and a Wade Taylor IV shot from deep.

After the game, Head coach Buzz Williams and select players spoke to the media to discuss the loss, as the young season is officially off to a very, very rocky start sitting at 6-5. Here are the quotes from Wade Taylor IV and Andre Gordon.

“Credit to Wofford. They were a pretty good, well-coached team. They hit a couple of bit shots, and we just couldn’t put a turkey together… string a couple stops together.”

“It was just spurts of fight that we were doing, and we weren’t fighting the whole game.”

“We got to come out and fight in every game, regardless of who our opponent is… Give credit to them. They came out and fought.”

“I think we had control of the game when we were up 10. We got comfortable. You can’t ever get comfortable.”
