Noah Clowney Named Back-to-Back SEC Freshman of the Week


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Following the Crimson Tide’s victory over No. 1 Houston on Saturday, Alabama freshman?Noah Clowney?was named back-to-back Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The 6-10 freshman from Spartanburg, S.C. scored 16 points against No. 1 Houston to go along with grabbing 11 rebounds for his first career double-double in Alabama’s road win over the top-ranked Cougars. Clowney has made seven three-pointers in his last two outings to lead the Crimson Tide in wins over South Dakota State and No. 1 Houston. This is the third SEC Freshman of the Week honor for Alabama this season, as?Brandon Miller?earned the honor on Nov. 21, and Clowney earning the honor on the week of Dec. 5. Alabama is the first SEC school this season to have multiple winners of the award.?

  • Recorded his first career double-double against No. 1 Houston
  • Grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds against No. 1 Houston
  • Recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring games for the first time this season
  • Made a career-high five three-pointers against South Dakota State on December 3 
  • Won the Hard Hat Award in back-to-back games against the Jackrabbits and the Cougars
