Raiders Dominate IIT For Second Straight Win

MILWAUKEE – Fresh off their first win of the season MSOE women’s basketball looked to make it two in a row when they welcomed Illinois Tech to the Kern Center for a rare Sunday afternoon matchup. The Raiders excelled on both ends of the court and used dominating defense to take home a blowout win against the Scarlet Hawks to move to 2-0 in NACC play.

FINAL SCORE
Illinois Tech – 32
MSOE RAIDERS – 70

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Illinois Tech (1-6, 0-3 NACC) got off to a hot start in the first quarter and shot 50 percent as they ended the opening ten minutes with a two point lead over MSOE (2-5, 2-0 NACC). However, the Raiders wouldn’t be down for long.
  • The Red & White shrugged at the Scarlet Hawks first frame shooting percentage and went on to make 11-16 shots from the field to outscore IIT 25-8 in the quarter to open up an insurmountable gap between the two teams. MSOE went into halftime with a 39-24 lead, and they wouldn’t look back.
  • The Raiders kept shooting the ball well in the second half, but it was their defense that shined. The Red & White allowed just eight points in the final 20 minutes of action and forced 17 turnovers during that span. In fact, MSOE scored 35 points off IIT miscues as they would go on to win in front of the home crowd by 38 points.

  • The Raiders owned the paint adding 50 of their 70 points from under the basket.
