Nittany Lions Shoot the Lights Out Once Again, Down Loyola Maryland 90-69

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s basketball team took down the Greyhounds of Loyola (Md.) 90-69 on Thursday evening in the Bryce Jordan Center to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
 
In the follow-up to their record-breaking performance from downtown on Monday evening, the Nittany Lions drained 16 threes tonight on 53.3 percent shooting from behind the arc. Myles Dread led the way with his second straight game with four 3-pointers made.
 
Camren Wynter topped Penn State with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including three treys of his own. His fourth rebound in the contest gave him 500 for his career, which made him one of three active players with 1,500 career points, 500 career assists, and 500 career rebounds, joining teammate Jalen Pickett on the prestigious list.
 
Jalen Pickett was the facilitator of the offense once again, as he dished out 11 assists in the game. The Nittany Lions as a squad picked up 21 assists on 33 field goals, their second straight 20-plus assist effort.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Greyhounds won the tip, however the Nittany Lion defense, just as it did against Winthrop, forced a turnover on the first possession.
  • Penn State picked up right where they left off on offense as well, as the Nittany Lions began the game on an 14-4 run that included 3-pointers from Camren Wynter, Andrew Funk, Seth Lundy, and Dallion Johnson.
