The UNC basketball program began the 2022-23 season in the win column.
After a slow start on Monday night, UNC grabbed the halftime lead over UNC-Wilmington and never relinquished it en route to a 69-56 win in the Dean Dome. While it was a bit of a slow start for the Tar Heels, they managed to find their groove a bit after the 10-minute mark in the first half.
The Seahawks were able to stay in the game due to the 3/4th’s court pressure they used as well as a 37-32 advantage on the glass. It’s not often you see a team out-rebound the Tar Heels in a game but that’s exactly what happened on Monday night.
A win is a win and UNC will take it but there is certainly some things they will need to clean up as the non-conference schedule rolls on.
Here are some photos from Monday’s season-opener in the Dean Dome.
