The UNC basketball program is making the trip to the iconic Madison Square Garden later this season and now, we know they will be back in 2023 as well.
Per a report from Jon Rothstein, the Tar Heels are set to play in the annual Jimmy V Classic at MSG in 2023. Rothstein put out the report earlier on Monday as UNC is currently in the field per the reporter. The other teams at this moment are still unknown.
The Tar Heels last played at MSG in 2010 and will make the trip there in December, as they take on Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic. Now fans in the Big Apple will get to see the Tar Heels two years in a row.
The annual game is put on by ESPN in dedication to the late Jim Valvano and raises money and awareness for cancer research.
The Tar Heels have played in the event twice prior, beating UMASS 83-69 in 1996 and then losing to Indiana 82-73 in 1999.
