Patriots add homegrown Spence - British Basketball League

Plymouth City Patriots have added homegrown British talent in the form of Romario Spence.

Spence, a 6’7″ forward hailing from Luton, has spent the last five years studying in America and playing college basketball at both the NAIA and NCAA Div 2 levels.

He began at JUCO for Frank Philips Community College, before representing Montevallo Falcons in NCAA D2 in his junior year.

The following two seasons Spence moved to NAIA and represented Oklahoma City averaging an impressive 14.43 points and 10.25 rebounds per game in his senior year.

Along with his solid foundations in the American Collegiate system, Spence also has plenty of International experience. He has been selected every year from 2016 to 2019 in the Great Britain Under 18 and Under 20 squads for the FIBA European Championships.

He was also an integral part of the GB team in 2019 that recorded a famous win over Serbia, and reached the quarter finals of the Euro Championships A category.

“I’m delighted to have signed Romario Spence for the coming season,” said Head Coach Paul James.

“Romario is a talented young player with great potential. I think he will fit into our programme very well.”
