Hines-Allen and McCoughtry Invited to Women’s National Team Training Camp


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two former University of Louisville women’s basketball greats got invited to the Women’s National Team Training Camp ahead of the 2022 FIBA World Cup. Myisha Hines-Allen and Angel McCoughtry were two of 28 athletes selected for training camp that will be held from Sept. 6-12 in Las Vegas.

Hines-Allen is in her fifth season with the Washington Mystics as they prepare for the first round of the WNBA Playoffs. Hines-Allen played in 34 of the 36 games this season, made 15 starts for and averaged 8.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. This will be Hines-Allen second stint with USA Basketball as she was invited to the USA U23 National Team Training Camp back in 2017.

McCoughtry is continuing with the 2022 National Team as she took part in the February training camp in Washington D.C. and spring minicamp in Minneapolis earlier this season. McCoughtry took home gold with USA Basketball during the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and also the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Cups. She holds a 58-1 record in USA Basketball games she has played in.

The 2022 FIBA World Cup, featuring 12 of the best national teams in the world, is scheduled for Sept. 22-Oct. 1 in Sydney. The USA will look to win its fourth consecutive World Cup dating back to 2010. The 2022 USA Basketball Women’s National Team will be announced prior to the start of group play. As part of Group A, the U.S. will start play Sept. 22 vs. Belgium.
