Duke in the WNBA – Three Blue Devils Ready for WNBA Playoffs

DURHAM – With the WNBA regular season wrapping up this past weekend, three former Duke women’s basketball standouts are ready for the WNBA playoffs as their teams begin the chase for the 2022 WNBA Championship.

Chelsea Gray and the top-seeded Las Vegas Aces get things going with a first-round, game one matchup against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday, August 17 at 10 p.m., ET on ESPN. Gray closed out the regular season with a spectacular performance against the Seattle Storm that featured a near triple-double of 33 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in a 109-100 victory. The 2022 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup MVP put up 13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game during the regular season while helping lead the Aces to a 26-10 record.

Jasmine Thomas and the Connecticut Sun (25-11) commence the Thursday playoff slate with their game one contest against the Dallas Wings at 8 p.m., ET on ESPNU. Thomas played the first five games of the season before being forced to miss the rest of the 2022 campaign with a torn ACL. During those five contests, Thomas helped lead the Sun to a 4-1 start while posting splits of 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. She was also among the league leaders in three-point percentage to start the season, shooting at a clip of 38.5 percent.

Elizabeth Williams and the Washington Mystics (22-14) also begin their playoff journey Thursday, taking on the Seattle Storm at 10 p.m., ET on ESPN2. Playing in her seventh season, Williams averaged 5.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game on 48.2 percent shooting.
