Flyers add Tevin Olison to 2022/23 roster

Bristol Flyers have completed the signing of American Guard Tevin Olison out of Youngstown State University.

The 6’4β€³ sharpshooter has signed his first professional contract with the Flyers and joins the club on a one-year deal.

Olison averaged 12.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game during his senior year with the Penguins, shooting 37% from behind the three-point line.

Speaking on his first professional contract, Olison said: β€œIt’s a dream come true. It’s what you work all your life for and why you never give up.

β€œThe number one thing for me is that Coach Kapoulas described the Flyers as a family and that’s big for me. I loved his energy from our initial conversation and he wants me to play a big role in the success of the team this year.

β€œI needed that experience and I feel like it helped me tremendously for the next step of my career.”

Olison began his college career at Cleveland State Community College, where he started in all 26 games of his freshman year and averaged 15.6 points per game.

He upped his scoring average to 17.3 as a sophomore, including a season-high 38 point performance against Chattanooga State during the 2018/19 campaign.

Olison transferred to the University of the Cumberlands, where he played two seasons with the program between 2019-2021 and was named NAIA Second Team All-American and MSC First Team All-Conference for two years in a row.

In 2021, Olison was the only NAIA player in all of college basketball to make the transition to the NCAA Division One level at Youngstown State, with the benefit of the COVID year.

Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added: β€œTevin will be an extremely intriguing rookie prospect in our league.

β€œWe picked up conversations very early in the recruitment process this summer and it was evident from the get go that he will be a great fit for our program.

β€œHe was the only NAIA player in the country to transfer to the NCAA Division One level last year and he more than showed that he could hold his own at that level. It says a lot about his mindset and skill level.

β€œHe is very talented, athletic, has a high work work ethic, can really score the ball and was one of the better defenders at Youngstown State.

β€œAfter speaking to their coaching staff, it was…
