Pac-12 harmony, clarity of vision are evident under George Kliavkoff

George Kliavkoff has done a great job leading the Pac-12 in Year 1 as conference commissioner.

Is that mere cheerleading from a USC blog that loves the Pac-12 Championship reform plan that gives the Trojans a better chance of playing in the event and, by extension, winning the Pac-12 title?

No. It’s the reality on the ground, shaped by the people who work with Kliavkoff and have a vested interest in the conference and its future.

Jon Wilner of The San Jose Mercury News sat down with Kliavkoff for a review of the commissioner’s first year in office.

It’s very clear that Pac-12 schools are happy with Kliavkoff.

(Wilner): Do you sense alignment between the conference office and the campuses?

(Kliavkoff): It’s better than I thought. I credit the athletic directors and the board (presidents and chancellors) — they have all been actively engaged and have come to the table willing to make decisions based on what’s best for the conference. We have collaboratively organized in a way that allows us to best help each other. It has been very strong, which isn’t necessarily what the reputation had been.

Larry who?

It’s a new day in the Pac-12 Conference. This is not what we saw under the previous commissioner.
