Michigan State freshman Max Christie will reportedly hire an agent and remain in the 2022 NBA draft, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Christie, a former consensus five-star prospect, declared for the NBA draft in April while maintaining the option to return to school. He will forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility by signing with an agent, ending his time with the Spartans.
The 6-foot-6 guard was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team after averaging 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 35 games. He started every game this season and reached double figures 11 times, finishing third on the team in scoring.
Christie is projected by some to be a second-round pick this year and will be among the prospects participating in the draft combine this week in Chicago, Illinois. He likely received strong feedback from teams in interviews that helped form his decision to stay in the draft.
The NBA draft will take place on June 23.
