Every assistant coach hire under Matt McMahon

Not long after taking over in Baton Rouge, new men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon has built his own army of a staff. LSU may need all the help it can get, as the program enters a period of uncertainty that could include possible sanctions from the NCAA.

That investigation ultimately spelled the end of the Will Wade era, and McMahon knows that his work is cut out for him entering as the replacement.

LSU hired three on-court assistants in Cody Toppert from Memphis, Casey Long from Murray State and Ronnie Hamilton from Ole Miss. Additionally, McMahon hired six support staffers.

Here’s a rundown of every personnel member on McMahon’s staff.

Casey Long – Assistant

Casey Long follows McMahon from Murray State, where the two worked together for five seasons. Ironically, Long also worked for Wade when the pair was at VCU.

Ronnie Hamilton – Assistant

The only one of the three assistants with SEC experience, Ronnie Hamilton comes from Ole Miss, where he spent four years. He also previously coached four years under Rebels coach Kermit Davis at Middle Tennessee. He worked with guards primarily while in Oxford.

Cody Toppert – Assistant

Cody Toppert joins LSU’s staff after three seasons under Penny Hardaway at Memphis. Unlike the other three assistants on staff, he has NBA experience, serving as an assistant for the Phoenix Suns in addition to experience in the G League.

Tim Kaine – Chief of Staff

Tim Kaine also follows McMahon from Murray State, where he spent seven seasons as an assistant with the Racers. Now, he’s in a new administrative role. He has also been an assistant for Georgia Southern, Florida Atlantic and Winthrop.

Tasmin Mitchell – Special Assistant to the Head Coach

Tasmin Mitchell is a holdover from Wade’s staff, and he enters into his sixth season with the Tigers….
