The first meeting between these in-state rivals scheduled for Jan. 8 at Michigan was postponed due to COVID-19 issues with the Wolverines. Since then, they have been trending in opposite directions, with Michigan now on its first three-game winning streak of the season and the No. 10 Spartans having dropped two of their last three as they prepare to tangle Saturday on CBS.
If the Wolverines (10-7, 4-3 Big Ten) are going to get on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble, though, a road win over a ranked opponent would certainly help. To date, Michigan is just 2-6 against Quad 1 and Quad 2 opposition, even after rattling off victories against Maryland, Indiana and Northwestern over the last couple weeks.
