Slow First Dooms Devils in Loss to Bullets

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Dickinson women’s basketball team found themselves behind the eight-ball early trailing 18-7 after one and made just one of 15 threes on the night en route to a 58-44 loss to the host Gettysburg College Bullets on Wednesday night at Bream Gymnasium.

Things were tight early in the opening stanza with layups from Kate Montgomery and Mia Kolb cutting the deficit down to 6-5 at the 2:49 mark. Mackenzie Szlosek and Jennifer Kremp traded buckets to keep things close at 8-7 with five minutes gone. From then on the rest of the quarter belonged to the Bullets as Mackenzie Tinner and Meghan Barbera bookended a 10-0 run to make it 18-7 after 10 minutes.

Gettysburg added four points to begin the second thanks to layups by Szlosek and Tinner to advance the lead to 22-7 just over two minutes in.
