The Boston Celtics could have Marcus Smart back in the lineup Wednesday night when they host the Charlotte Hornets.

Smart was upgraded to questionable on the team’s Tuesday injury report. The Celtics point guard has missed the last four games due to health and safety protocols.

Also questionable for Wednesday’s game is second-year forward Aaron Nesmith, who sprained his ankle during Monday’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Celtics have won three of their last four games without Smart. Still, there’s no doubt they’ll hope to have their defensive stalwart back in the mix as they look to continue their ascent in the Eastern Conference standings. Boston currently holds a 10th-place spot at 23-22, but the first-place Chicago Bulls are only 5 1/2 games ahead at 27-15.
