Sixers discuss health of Tyrese Maxey as he goes through the protocols

The Philadelphia 76ers will head back on the road to take on the Houston Rockets on Monday, but they will be doing so without the help of their starting point guard who remains in health and safety protocols.

Tyrese Maxey entered the protocols before the team’s first matchup with the Rockets back on Jan. 3 and he has now missed three straight games with this next one set to be his fourth missed game. He still has to go through the protocols and be sure he is ready to go to come back and rejoin the team in a healthy way.

“He’s still out,” said coach Doc Rivers at practice on Sunday. “He’s still trying to get through the protocol. It’s just all protocol. Everything is always protocol now with the league. You gotta reach certain numbers.”

When asked if Maxey is actually feeling sick or anything, Rivers did say he is feeling OK.

“No,” said Rivers. “He feels fine.”
