Women’s Basketball Edged by River Hawks in Home Opener

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Dickinson women’s basketball team got a combined 33 points between Jennifer Kremp and Kate Montgomery, but it would not be enough as the visiting Susquehanna University River Hawks held on for a 62-58 win on Wednesday night in non-conference action at the Kline Center.

Dickinson began the game extremely slow as five missed shots and two turnovers saw them go behind 13-0 with 2:50 gone. It took the Devils until the 4:35 mark to get on the board as Lindsey Hollenshead found Montgomery for the layup. Kremp and Hollenhead converted at the stripe to chip the deficit down to 18-5 with 1:39 to play. Dickinson continued to battle scoring five of the final six points thanks to a trey by Kremp and two by Hollenshead to make it 19-10 after one.

Sadie Comfort extended the margin to 21-10 to start the second, but then DC responded with a 7-0 run on buckets by Hollenshead, Kremp, and Montgomery to get within 21-17 with less than three minutes gone. The River Hawks lead…
