The Alabama Crimson Tide rebounded from their first loss of the year in conference play by going on the road and getting a thrilling 102-97 win over the Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena Saturday.
Led by 25 points from Grant Nelson and 24 from Mark Sears, Alabama (15-3 overall, 4-1 SEC) had four starters finish in double figures for just their second win in Lexington in 16 years. Nelson had 19 points in the first half alone as Alabama led 47-45 at halftime.
Freshman Lebaron Philon finished with 15 points and Clifford Omoruyi had 12 to go with the 49 combined from Nelson and Sears as Alabama survived a wild, back-and-forth contest in Lexington. The Crimson Tide went ahead by as many as nine in the final minutes.
Alabama went over the 100-point margin for the fifth time this season. It’s the second time in three meetings the Tide have beaten the Wildcats (14-4, 3-2), and Alabama has now split the last 10 meetings against Kentucky dating back to the 2019 season.
