Grullon Named Rookie of the Week for a Second Time

ROME, Ga.  On Monday, the USA South Athletic Conference announced its latest basketball ‘Athletes of the Week’ honors. For the second time in as many weeks, freshman Kayleen Grullon of the Methodist University women’s basketball team was named the league’s Rookie of the Week.

This week’s honors reflected the results of the last two weeks since less than half of the conference’s teams competed during the week of 12/23/24–1/5/25.

Grullon helped guide the Monarchs to three straight victories last week, averaging 9.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 steals, 1.3 assists, and 0.7 blocks per contest. In the 70-45 win versus Averett University, she contributed ten points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block. In the three-point win, 64-61, against Randolph College, she totaled nine points, two assists, and a block. She also led the game in rebounds (7) and steals (5), which was also a career-high. Finally, in the 50-38 win over conference foe Pfeiffer University, she had a team-high ten points and pulled down two rebounds.
