Schubert Named to D2CCA First Team All-South Region


JACKSON, Tenn. – Lee University women’s basketball player, Haley Schubert was named to the 2023 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Women’s Basketball All-South Region First Team. The D2CCA announced the two teams on Thursday, March 9. The teams were voted on by the sports information directors in the south region.  
 
Schubert, the only active player in NCAA Division II with 2000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists, was also a First Team All-GSC member this season. She leads the Gulf South Conference in points per game this season at 19.3 points per game. She is 20thin all of NCAA DII in scoring.
 
Sydney Kin, a senior from Carey, Ohio, of Tampa University was selected as the D2CCA Women’s Basketball South Region Player of the Year. She was also named the 2023 Sunshine States Conference Player of the year. Kin is averaging 19.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season. She is shooting 68 percent from the field. 
 
Kin, along with Haley Schubert (Lee), Jaclyn Jarnot (West Florida), Shanique Lucas (Union), and Bria Dent (West Alabama) each earned first team honors.  
 
Ashiala Jackson (Tuskegee), Sofia Person (Eckerd), Melijah Sullivan (Tampa), Maya Price (Eckerd), Madison Frederick (Nova Southeastern), and Zoe Piller (West Florida) each earned second team honors.  
 
Eight different south region schools had a representative with Tampa, Eckerd, and West Florida each having two honorees. Four players from the 2023 teams also were D2CCA All-South Region honorees in 2022.
