The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors will meet in the 2022 NBA Finals, and the series gets underway on Thursday night in San Francisco.

The Warriors have turned the Chase Center into a fortress in the postseason, going 9-0 so far in the playoffs, but the Celtics won convincingly in the building in March. Can the Celtics steal a win on the road before the series shifts to TD Garden?

Celtics vs. Warriors: Who will lead the series in points per game?

Tabatabaie: I am inclined to pick Jayson Tatum here. The Celtics will certainly need big scoring numbers from Taco Jay, but his size and length should be a huge asset against Golden State’s thin wing rotation. It feels foolish to pick against Steph Curry, but I do think the Warriors will try to win by sharing the offensive load. So in any given game, Steph could explode, but playing the law of averages, going with Tatum here.

Schwartz: Curry’s scoring average has gone down in every playoff series this postseason – from 28.0 against the Nuggets to 26.0 against the Grizzlies to 23.8 against the Mavs. If the Celtics hope to win the finals, the answer has to be Tatum.

Who will lead the series in assists per game?

Tabatabaie: As of this writing, the player with the most postseason assists per game still playing is Draymond Green. He’s averaging 6.3 dimes a night for the Dubs, and I would expect for this trend to hold in the finals. Curry and Marcus Smart have also been critical playmakers for their respective clubs, but Draymond is still the tail that wags the GSW dog.
