Three Wildcats Earn All-Pac-12 Honors

TUCSON, Ariz. – Three members of the Arizona Wildcats women’s basketball team received All-Pac-12 recognition, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
 
Cate Reese was named to the All-Pac-12 team following a stellar season for Arizona. The 6-2 forward was a dominant presence as she averaged 6.2 rebounds and a career-high 14.2 points per game. Reese scored in double-figures in 20 of 24 games played this season including a season-high 29 points at USC on Jan. 9. She was also instrumental in Arizona’s win over then-No. 6 Louisville as she scored 21 points to topple the Cardinals on Nov. 12.
 
In her final year as a Wildcat, Sam Thomas picked up two Pac-12 awards as she was named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 and to the Pac-12 All-Defense Team. A lock down defender, Thomas has amassed 194 blocks and 258 steals for her career, making her the Pac-12’s active career leader in steals. The Las Vegas, Nev., native was also deadly from three-point range this season as she finished the regular season shooting 44.9% from deep, good for fourth in the conference.
 
Joining Thomas and Reese in garnering All-Pac-12 honors is junior Helena Pueyo who was named Honorable Mention All-Defense. Pueyo was key for an Arizona defense that forced 18.9 turnovers game as she ranked fourth in the Pac-12 with 1.8 steals for game. The Spanish National was also a key part of Arizona’s offense as she led the league with a 3.5 assist/turnover ratio.
 
Arizona is back in action from the Pac-12 Tournament as the four-seed beginning with a quarterfinal showdown vs. either Colorado or Washington on Thursday, March 3, at 1 p.m. (MST) at Michelob ULTRA Arena inside Mandalay Bay. Fans can purchase tickets here.
