Caleb Love Named Big 12 Player of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Big 12 Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday and Arizona guard Caleb Love was named Player of the Week. Love is the first Wildcat to win a men’s basketball weekly award from the Big 12 Conference.

In two wins last week, Love averaged 24.5 points and helped Arizona vault to the top of the conference standings at 9-1. He scored 22 points against No. 3 Iowa State, including the 55-foot shot at the end of regulation to force overtime. Then on Saturday at Arizona State, he registered 27 points to become the first Wildcat since Michael Dickerson in 1997 to score 27 or more points in a road game at ASU.

Love is averaging 17.3 points per game in Big 12 play while grabbing 4.9 rebounds and dishing out 3.5 assists per game. He also leads Arizona with 18 steals in conference games.

He enters Tuesday’s game at BYU needing just 12 points to reach 1,000 in his Arizona career. He would become the 56th player in school history to score 1,000 points and the fourth in as many years under head coach Tommy Lloyd.
