LSU women’s basketball faces its biggest test of the season on Thursday when it travels to No. 2 South Carolina.
The top-five matchup with the Gamecocks comes fresh off the No., 5 Tigers’ road win against Florida on Sunday. LSU is still undefeated on the season, while South Carolina’s only loss came to No. 1 UCLA.
Following Sunday’s win, Kim Mulkey was asked about facing head coach Dawn Staley’s team. The importance of winning conference games, especially on the road, was cited by the Tigers’ head coach.
“Any victory on the road in our league is an accomplishment but we know what we face next — a tremendous challenge to play the defending champions and do it at their place,” Mulley said.
Mulkey received two questions about her team’s tilt with the Gamecocks but she declined to answer. She decided to focus on her team’s tough win against the Gators, highlighting how her team needs to learn what they did well and what needs work.
