Despite a pair of losses in Southeastern Confernece play so far for Florida basketball, the Gators remain one of the top-ranked teams in the nation while also projected among the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament this coming March.
Todd Golden and Co. holds onto a No. 6 ranking in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll while holding the No. 5 spot in the Associated Press Poll this week. With a 16-2 overall record and three wins in five tries against fellow SEC schools, things are looking good for the Orange and Blue.
Before Florida’s 24-point win over the Texas Longhorns last Saturday, the Gators were a 3-seed in the East Region according to CBS Sports’ bracketology. On Tuesday, Jerry Palm updated his brackets and moved Golden’s gang back into a 2-seed position — but this time in the East Region.
That matches them up with the 15th-seeded UNC-Asheville Bulldogs in the opening round held in Raleigh, North Carolina. The 7th-seeded Creighton Bluejays are matched up with the 10th-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders in that same city.
