Caleb Grill Named SEC Player of the Week

After leading University of Missouri men’s basketball to a pair of Southeastern Conference victories last week, graduate guard Caleb Grill was honored with SEC Player of the Week accolades on Monday.

In wins at No. 5/4 Florida and at home versus Arkansas, Grill tallied 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists per game โ€“ shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 60.0 percent (9-15) from 3-point range.

Grill opened the week with a 22-point game in the win over the Gators, connecting on 6-of-10 from 3-point range. It marked the Tigers’ first road win over a top-five school in 13 seasons as Mizzou is now one of just three schools with multiple top-five wins this season. It was also the third game of at least six made triples for Grill this season as he is the first Tiger to do so in a year since Kassius Robertson in 2017-18.

Grill then followed it up with 17 points and four steals in the win over the Razorbacks, while also scoring his 1,000th career point in the victory.

Overall, Grill has averaged 12.5 points in 13 games this season, leading Mizzou with 37 made triples (2.8 per game) and a clip of 49.3 percent from beyond the arc.

The weekly accolade is the first for Grill during his collegiate career. The team captain has keyed the Tigers during their 4-1 start in SEC play โ€“ the school’s best conference start since joining the league in 2012-13.

Grill and the No. 22/24 Tigers return to action Tuesday night at Texas, looking to extend their four-game conference winning streak. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
