MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Playing the majority of the contest without All-American guard Mallory Hampton, the Lee University basketball team posted its fifth-straight win on Saturday afternoon with an impressive 67-46 team victory over host Christian Brothers University. The Lady Flames improved to 8-3 in conference play and 14-3 overall. The Lady Bucs remained winless at 0-11, 0-16.
Lee was led by Mia Hurst who posted a double-double, 18 points and 10 rebounds. She made 6-of-12 shots overall and was 3-of-7 from long range and canned all three of her free throws. Haylee Johnson and Anna Muhonen followed with 10 points apiece. Muhonen made 5-of-9 shots from the field and pulled down six rebounds. Johnson delivered eight assists and countered with five boards. Baylee Delbridge and Bailey Burgess followed with eight markers each while Kara Williams made three of the five shots she attempted and totaled seven points.
Lee finished with 40% shooting from the field (29-of-60) but struggled from deep, 25% (7-of-28). The Lady Flames went to the charity stripe 14 times and made 12. They outrebounded the Lady Bucs 47-22. The Lee defense held the Christian Brothers offense to 37% shooting, 17-of-46. They did convert 4-of-10 triples (40%) and 8-of-13 free throws.
