Huskies Visit Illinois For 2024 Finale


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – After picking up their first conference road win over Northwestern on Saturday, the road trip continues for the Dawgs, who will face Illinois on Tuesday, December 31.

The game will tipoff at 10 a.m. PT (noon CT) at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill., the first time the Huskies have played in this arena.

Action will be aired on Big Ten Network with Jack Kizer and Autumn Johnson on the call. Gary Hill will call the game on 1090 KPTR-AM.

This will be the second time these two teams have met. In the only other matchup between the Dawgs and the Fighting Illini, Illinois defeated Washington 85-73 at the Honda IV Elite Classic in Orlando, Fla. in 1998.

LAST TIME OUT

The Huskies picked up their first Big Ten Conference win, and first league road win, Saturday afternoon, defeating Northwestern 90-71.

Elle Ladine did it all for Washington, pouring in a career-high 40 points on 15-of-25 shooting. She became the fourth Husky ever to score 40 in a game, joining Giuliana Mendiola, Amber Melgoza, and Kelsey Plum who did it five times.

Her 40-piece tied the most points scored by a Big Ten player this season and tied the fourth most by a NCAA women’s basketball player this year.

Dalayah Daniels recorded her 20th career double-double against the Wildcats, and her ninth double-digit outing of the year, dropping season-highs of 20 points and 15 rebounds. It was the first time a Husky has had a 20/15 game since Chantel Osahor had 24 and 20 in 2017 against Colorado.

Hannah Stines recorded her ninth double-digit game of the year as well, contributing 10 points and five assists.

The Huskies dished out a season-high 25 assists and turned the ball over just 10 times, the second fewest this season.

SCOUTING REPORT

This is the second all-time meeting between Washington and Illinois, with Illinois beating UW 85-73 at the Honda IV Elite Classic in Orlando, Fla. in 1998.

Illinois is off to an 11-2 start to the season, most recently clinching a 64-59 win over Oregon in its Big Ten home opener. The Fighting Illini are 9-0 at home. Both of their losses came at the hands of Top-25 schools, including a 76-53 loss to Kentucky and an 83-74 loss to Ohio State.

Illinois leads the Big Ten in free throw percentage at 77.7 percent (20th nationally).
