Faye, Pitzer Named PNC Achievers of the Week


PITTSBURGH – Women’s Basketball’s Khadija Faye and Wrestling’s Dayton Pitzer were named PNC Achievers of the Week following a pair of strong performances.

Graduate center Khadija Faye averaged 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds, while shooting 51.9 percent from the field last week. The Dakar, Senegal native recorded a game-high 24 points in the win over Saint Peter’s, before logging her ACC-leading sixth double-double of the season in the ACC opener against Miami. Faye currently leads the ACC and ranks second nationally in offensive boards per game, averaging 5.8 per contest.

Redshirt sophomore Dayton Pitzer won the fourth straight bout for the Panthers in a close match against No. 5 Ohio State on Friday. At 285, Pitzer defeated Hogan Swenski in a 16-1 technical fall as time expired in the third period. Pitzer improved to a 3-0 record this season and recorded his second win by a technical fall.
