COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball clinched their fourth-straight win, taking down Northern Illinois 94-55 Saturday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.
Junior guard Ashton Judd put up 16 points and a season-high nine rebounds, making this her fourth consecutive game with double-digit points.
Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter led Missouri with 20 points, her third career 20-plus point outing of the season.
Graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi logged nine points and 10 rebounds, her personal best night on the boards in the Black and Gold. Saturday’s game marked Ngalakulondi’s 12th career game in which she grabbed double-digit rebounds.
Both teams started off the game trading buckets on the offensive side. However, an early six points by Ngalakulondi in the paint gave Missouri (9-3, 0-0 SEC) an 11-10 lead halfway through the first quarter.
Midway through the opening frame, a Ngalakulondi layup ignited a 16-2 stretch to close the quarter for the Tigers. Mizzou drilled a trio of 3-pointers during the run and received the two final two buckets of the period from Judd and redshirt sophomore guard Averi Kroenke.
The Tigers started the second quarter hot with a 12-2 run ignited by a free throw and transition triple from Slaughter. A steal by Nyah Wilson and a fast-break layup by Slaughter gave Missouri a 37-19 lead after the Tigers’ offensive push.
